Here is the first teaser trailer for the highly anticipated movie The World's End. This film will reportedly be the last installment of a three-movie arc of projects made by director Edgar Wright and actors Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. These three have worked on other genre-parodies such as Shaun of the Dead (which was a parody on zombie movies) and Hot Fuzz (which was a parody on action movies). This time, the trio takes on sci-fi.
According to Simon Pegg (who is also appearing in Star Trek Into Darkness this year) The World's End is a "sci-fi comedy" that features five friends returning to their hometown to "drink their way through twelve bars." These five friends are played by Pegg, Frost, Paddy Considine, Eddie Marsan and Martin Freeman (The Hobbit). But when they arrive back home the sci-fi element kicks in and the fate of the universe is at stake.
Here is the official synopsis:
20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hell bent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King, a 40-year old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their home town and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub, The World's End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind's. Reaching The World's End is the least of their worries.
Directed and co-written by Wright, The World's End is set to open in theaters of July 19 in the United Kingdom and August 23 in the United States.
