The Duchess of Cambridge is due to give birth to the future heir to the thrown in just nine weeks and we still have no idea if the baby will be a boy or a girl. People are so excited about the baby that bets predicting the child's sex, name and even hair color have been circulating around the United Kingdom. Prince William and Kate have been reportedly busy getting their nursery together as well as just hiring a housekeeper, but all we really want to know is the baby's gender and name!
So will we be seeing a new prince or princess? Well according to the betting odds, it looks like the Brits are predicting a girl, with odds at 5/2. Despite Prince Harry allegedly spilling the royal beans about the child being a boy, those odds are only 2/1.
As far as girls' names go, Elizabeth, Diana and Alexandra, all of which have been rumored throughout the Duchess' pregnancy, are leading with 6/1 odds. If the baby turns out to be a prince, 14/1 odds favor George and Charles. All of these favored names sound pretty regal, wouldn't you say?
Other bets include the actual birth date, hair color and even future aspirations.
With the due date announced as "mid-July," predictions on the actual date have been coming in. July 15 is favored as the actual birth date, but as Kate Middleton was quoted saying last month, "It's around mid-July but apparently babies have their own agenda."
An interesting prediction is whether the baby will inherit his or her uncle's ginger hair color. Odds of another redheaded royal are at about 7/1 right now with blonde hair favored at about 2/1.
Though we have plenty of time to see what the future heir chooses to do with his or her life, odds are 2/1 that the new royal will have a career in the military.
With only nine weeks left before the due date, it looks like we will have answers to most of these questions soon enough. What are your predictions?
