Jodi Arias Death Penalty Trial LIVE STREAM: Travis Alexander's Ex-Lover Begs For Life In Prison

Jodi Arias is back in court to escape the death penalty. Arias was found guilty in May for the gruesome murder of her ex-boyfriend Travis Alexander.

 Jurors believed Arias should be eligible for the death penalty after she shot Travis in the face, stabbed him 28 times, and slit his throat, however, the jurors could not come to an agreement and the judge declared a hung jury, leaving the decision to a new jury.

Arias claimed that her actions were in self-defense, but it wasn't enough to get her off. Previously, Arias begged the first jury to give her life in prison.

The 32-year-old told the jurors, she was worth saving because of her previous donations to the charity Locks of Love, her plans to start a prison reading program helping the illiterate, selling "Survivor" t-shirts for domestic violence victims, and starting a recycling program in the prison.

Arias gave some words about her former lover Alexander and admitted that she never intended to kill him - still claiming self-defense, "It was a goal of mine to preserve his reputation," she said, adding, "I loved Travis and I looked up to him. At one point he was the world to me."

The convicted murderer then told the jury, "the worst thing I've ever done... before that day I wouldn't even want to harm a spider... to this day I can't believe I was capable of that kind of violence... I'm horrified by what I've done."

Arias said she felt sorry for the families that were dragged through this ordeal , "I want everyone's healing to begin and everyone's pain to stop."
