Donna the Deer Lady who is a self-proclaimed animal lover called a North Dakota Y94's The Morning Playhouse where she called to vent about new deer crossing signs. Donna believed that the signs were for deer to acknowledge as their own cross walk. She couldn't understand why the Department of Transportation would put signs up on the most dangerous parts of the road.
Donna said, "My frustration is that Minnesota and North Dakota departments of transportation would allow these deer crossings to be in such high-traffic areas ... I mean I've even seen them on the interstate. Why are we encouraging deer to cross the interstate? I don't get it ... They can direct their deer population anywhere they want to by moving that deer crossing sign. Why in the world would they place it on the highway or the interstate, you know? I mean, God. The deer crossing sign is there to tell deer that that's where they need to cross."
When the morning show posted the interview under "Donna the Deer Lady" her interview had gone viral. She later called up for a follow up interview and the host explained to her that it was for the drivers to be aware that deer tend to cross in that area. Completely embarrassed, Donna told the radio host, "In my defense, I grew up in a really small North Dakota town."
Some may think that the interview was a hoax, but maybe it's just an honest mistake, and thankfully she's gotten the right information.
