Mexican State beauty queen has been shot and killed after being caught in a shootout with drug traffickers and soldiers in Northern Mexico. The 20-year-old beauty queen, Susana Flores Gamez was found lying near an assault rifle after the gun battle.
State prosecutor Marco Antonio Higuera said,"She was with the gang of criminals, but we cannot say whether she participated in the shootout," he said. "That's what we're going to have to investigate." The beauty queen was voted 2012 Woman of Sinaloa earlier this year and competed in the state's pageant, but was reluctant to win.
It was uncertain if Flores Gamez was involved in the shootout, but she was in the vehicle that was engaged in the shootout with Mexican soldiers and was killed along with two other gang members in the car. Before the shootout, the gang was chased by then army before being cornered near Mocorito. Almost, six other vehicles, drugs and weapons were captured and detained after the shootout ended.
A similar story in 2008, which didn't so much end violently, the former Miss Sinaloa Laura Zuniga's crown was taken back after being arrested for suspicion of drugs and weapons. Although she was released with no charges against her, she was detained again in 2010 with seven other men when police fond weapons and $53,300 on them.
