Vicki Soto: Paul Simon Sings 'Sounds Of Silence' For Newtown, CT Teacher's Funeral, No Room In Church For Massive Crowd

Vicki Soto is being praised as a hero by many people including singer Paul Simon. The Sandy Hook elementary school teacher's will be remembered for her bravery after she sacrificed her life to save her classroom.

Soto hid her classroom in a closet when she heard the gunshots. When the gunman, Adam Lanza walked into her classroom he asked her where the children were and she told him that they were in the gym before he fatally shot and killed her.

The fallen teacher's funeral was held in Stratford,Connecticut where the size of attendance was so large that people stood outside to bid farewell to the loving teacher. The singer performed the Simon & Garfunkle classic "The Sound of Silence" at Soto's funeral which were broadcast along with the eulogies for those who stood outside.

According to Soto's obituary, she was interested in "molding young minds," however, "being the 'fun' teacher, was what she was all about."

In addition to loving her students she also loved animals. Her favorite animal were flamingos and her sister Carlee, tweeted a caption saying, " Yes Vicki, there are flamingos in heaven," along with a photo of the two.
