In a Snapchat video Hunger Games actress Amanda Stenberg revealed that she is a bisexual woman. The 17-year-old star took over Teen Vogue's social media site after her first time cover for the popular magazine was revealed. After thanking the magazine for opportunity, she shared some personal information and not just about her sexual orientation. Stenberg talked about identity, how hard it is to have to deny your identity or be silenced regarding who you really are. She wasn't complaining but simply sharing her thoughts and perspective.

It was during the last few minutes of the video that Amanda Stenberg revealed that she identifies as a black bisexual woman. The news did not come with a grand gesture or even as a stand-out point to her conversation. She simply mentioned it when she was speaking about how hard it is to have to "fight against your identity" and "to try to mold your self into a shape you shouldn't be in." The young woman even gave a shout out to Solange Knowles, Willow Smith and Ava DeVernay and "black girls everywhere" for helping her realizing that she doesn't need to change.

The Hunger Games actress's time on Teen Vogue Snapchat was about more than just the news she shared. Her message was really about not only accepting who you are but also being true to who you are. She let it be known that you should not be suppressed, even when being your true self can cause you to be vulnerable or is really hard.

She may only be a teenager, but what Stenberg talked about is a subject that everyway can relate to and she discussed it in a more relatable way than most adults could or would. It was easy to see that not only was this subject extremely important to her but that she truly cared about sharing a little about her self in order to convey a much more important message.
