Cate Blanchett, Jennifer Lawrence Dish on Worst Parts of Golden Globes, Awards Shows

For the average person (read: non-celebrity), awards shows such as tonight's Golden Globes appear incredibly glamourous. Legions of Hollywood's elite are dressed to the nines in the latest high fashions, surrounded by golden statuettes, and in the case of the Globes, food and drink. What's not to love? A lot, apparently, according to frequent awards show attendees Cate Blanchett and Jennifer Lawrence.

During a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Academy Award winner Blanchett dished on the unglamorous side of the Golden Globes in particular.

When Kimmel posits that the Globes seem more fun because attendees get to eat and drink at tables with friends and costars, Blanchett replied, "Well no, it's like a mosh pit, actually."

She continued to say, "It gets very sweaty down there with those tables. It's like, if there's not enough ketchup on your table you literally lean and get [Leonardo] DiCaprio's ketchup from the table behind. You're all very tightly packed. It's quite sweaty."

Actress Jennifer Lawrence (also an Academy Award winner) dislikes awards shows for a different reason entirely: the food. Lawrence revealed last month that she prefers to eat before awards shows, because the food is "horrible."

According to the Daily Mail, she said of the food, "Oh no, it's always horrible... But like when you're hungry and you're drinking and then they're like, 'This is a roasted date stuffed with cilantro and goat cheese,' and it's like, if you brought out chicken nuggets everyone would be so happy. You don't have to do this!"

The actress went on to say that she also devours the bread baskets and alcohol, so that by the time the food gets to her she doesn't care what "Woolfgang Puck-fancy-doesn't-even-look-like-food thing arrives."

Blanchett and Lawrence are both expected to be in attendance at Sunday night's Golden Globes, where both actresses are nominated. Blanchett is nominated for best actress in a motion picture drama for Carol, while Lawrence is nominated for best actress in a motion picture comedy for Joy.
