'X-Force' Movie Casting Rumors: Will Jon Hamm Become Nathan Summers/Cable In X-Men Spinoff?

From 20th Century Fox, plans are already underway for the upcoming X-Men movie spinoff, X-Force, from 20th Century Fox. After winning the 2016 Golden Globes, will Jon Hamm (Mad Men) step in and play the mutant superhero known as Nathan Summers aka Cable?

As we previously mentioned, Jeff Wadlow, the writer/director of Kick-Ass 2 , was hired by 20th Century Fox to start work on the X-Men spinoff. Wallow has been working on adapting the Marvel super-team, which he may direct the live-action version as well. Professional conceptual artist Gregory Semkow has released illustrations on his social media feed.

Based on the lineup in the artwork, we can speculate Cable still be the the team leader. Also a member of the team, Domino, a female assassin who was once Cable's lover and partner-in-crime. An addition as well, Warpath represents the last Native American of his tribe, surviving because of his super-strength. Also included is Cannonball, Samuel Guthrie, became team leader during Cable's absence and a final member of the team shrouded in mystery.

According to i09/Gizmodo, Cable creator Robert Liefeld really, really and I mean really wants the The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt  actor Jon Hamm to play his time-traveling, gun-toting mutant. After winning for role as Don Draper at the Golden Globes, Liefeld tweeted this photoshop of the 44 year old as the prodigal son of Jean Grey and Cyclops.

On his official Twitter account, Liefeld writes, "Yes! Jon Hamm, Dream Future Cable pick, wins for Mad Men!"

In the image, Hamm's brunette hair has gone gray but what really sells the photo is the X trademark over the eye. Coincidentally enough, Hamm is about the same age as cable in the Marvel comics. We're crossing our fingers and hope this happens!

No word yet on when The X-Force movie will be released in theaters.
