Yoko Ono, wife of the late great John Lennon, tweeted a photograph of Lennon's bloody glasses from the day he was murdered in a plea for gun control.  Accompanying the picture was a note, which read:

The picture grabbed the attention of Ono's more than 3 million twitter followers. Ono, a long time activist; more recently in support of stop fracking, has turned her attention to gun violence, according The Rolling Stone.

In addition to the Lennon bloody glasses tweet she also tweeted a series of thought provoking messages highlighting her thoughts on gun violence in America.  One tweet read, 31,537 thousand people are killed by guns in the USA every year. We are turning this beautiful country into a war zone."

Ono's gun violence related tweets came on the 44th anniversary of Ono and Lennon's wedding. "We decided if we were going to get married we would dedicate it to peace," Ono tweeted to her followers.

The iconic images of Lennon's bloody glasses also appeared as the cover for Ono's 1981 album "Season of Glass."
