Will Jon Bernthal's Frank Castle/The Punisher Get His Own Netflix TV Series?

The second season of Daredevil is undoubtedly one of the most highly-anticipated shows of 2016, and it may have a lot to do with Jon Bernthal's take on the Marvel antihero, The Punisher. The former Walking Dead star's performance as Frank Castle may have even been so convincing that Netflix is now planning to give The Punisher his very own TV series!

According to TV Line, Marvel is getting pretty close to creating a Netflix show starring Hell's Kitchen's newest vigilante. If The Punisher gets his own series, it will be the sixth Marvel show after Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Defenders.

That is, unless the rumors are true that there will no longer be an Iron Fist TV series. Back in November, there have been speculations that The Punisher will replace Danny Rand in the planned Defenders roster for Netflix. This would mean that Frank Castle's show could air after Luke Cage and the Punisher will be the fourth character to appear in The Defenders.

But what could happen to Iron Fist? Marvel reportedly isn't going to give up on the character that easily. There are speculations that Danny will star in a full-length film instead of getting a TV series, a move that could limit the character's storyline but get more budget for the project.

All hope is not lost for fans who are looking forward to the Iron Fist series. Marvel TV executive vice president Jeph Loeb has previously confirmed that they are definitely moving forward with the show. Hopefully, the studio would decide to push through with Iron Fist and find time for The Punisher right before The Defenders series is released.

Bernthal will finally debut as The Punisher in Daredevil Season 2, which will air on Netflix on March 18.
