Rihanna News: Keeps Fans at Chicago High School Waiting; Arrives FOUR Hours Late to Greet 'Diamonds Video Contest' Winners

The “Wait is OVA!” After tweeting pics of the annoying Chi-Town traffic that made her more than 4 hours late, Rihanna arrived at Barrington High School in northwest Chicago to surprise students who entered her “Shine Bright Like a Diamond” video contest.

On their first day of Spring Break Barrington students were heading for vacation with the surprise of a lifetime, and although Rihanna arrived after 5 pm, doors opened at 1pm, students greeted her with wild applause and cheer.

The students of Barrington’s BHA-TV film class were awarded the visit because of their five-minute video for “Shine Bright Like a Diamond” video contest. The video captured the Barrington spirit while highlighting the school’s recent volunteer and community service efforts, according to according to the Chicago Sun Times. .

Rihanna spoke to students and took pictures for less than 30 minutes, before she jetted to hit the stage at United Center to commence the Friday night performance of her “Diamonds World Tour.”

The singer may have made her visit with student’s brief in order to conserve her energy as she Instagramed a photo telling fans that A$AP would not be opening the tour for her due to illness.
