Lady Gaga's 2016 PGA Awards Performance Pretty Awkward for America Ferrera

It's awkward to be late to a performance. It's seriously awkward to be late to perform a song you've been nominated for an Oscar for. However, this is exactly what happened with Lady Gaga Saturday at the 2016 Producers Guild Awards, and apparently it was pretty awkward.

The singer was set to perform her Oscar-nominated song that she wrote with Diane Warren for the film The Hunting Ground. The song, "Til It Happens To You," is an emotional song about sexual abuse, which is something that the singer knows all too well about. In the last few years, the singer has revealed details about her own rape at the age of 19.

Apparently at the PGA Awards, America Ferrera went onstage to introduce the singer, only to stammer that Gaga was nowhere to be seen. A video introduction to the documentary and song then played.

When that ended, and Gaga was still nowhere to be seen, Ferrera joked, "So, actually, she's not here. Yet. Um ... So I guess I'm singing the song. Yeah, no. But she's going to be here. They tell me imminently."

USA Today reports that there was a bevy of nervous laughter from the audience, and Ferrera even started to open up the stage to questions from the audience when Gaga finally showed up. No explanation was given for the singer's late appearance.

Furthermore, it seems no one seemed to mind the tardiness once the singer actually performed. Journalist Gregg Kilday noted that "there seemed to be some confusion about Lady Gaga's entrance at PGA Awards," but who cares, because, "now she's doing a heartfelt intro to [the song] as she sits at [the] piano."
