Fox continues with the highly anticipated return of The X-Files Revival. In Season 10, episode 2, special agents Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) return to solve the mystery behind a doctor's suicide in Founder's Mutation.

The first thing we see is a bloody eyeball getting scanned by an elaborate sci-fi looking tech company.  Dr. Sanjay is being treated by the mysterious Augustus Goldman, known as "The Founder." In the cold opening, Sanjay suffers extreme auditory depravation as he locks himself in the server room. After downloading files onto a portable drive, the searing noise worsens that he has to jab himself a letter opener into his head.

Back on the job, wearing their suits, Mulder and Scully are called upon to investigate. Though the evidence belongs to drive the Department of Defense, Mulder manages to steal Sanjay's cell phone. Scully recognizes the name "Gupta" means secret, which takes them on another lead.

After Gupta reveals to Mulder about the "kids," Scully investigate Sanjay's secret Dupont Circle apartment. After breaking down the door, they find tons of photos of children with terrible genetic mutations. At this point, Mulder begins to suffers extreme auditory depravation.

Mulder still wants to continue with the case after telling Scully what's going on with him. Dr. Goldman funds a clinic for "damaged" young moms at the same hospital where Scully works. Scully meets with a frightened woman who remembers signing her baby away. She then runs offs when the nun shows up.

Mulder believes that Goldman's clinic is just another phase of The Project. Goldman is using women as incubators in alien/human testing. This brings back memories of William to Scully. Haunted by Sanjay's photos, Scully wonders what would life had been like, if she was a mother and raised William.

As Mulder and Scully track down Goldman, they encounter a janitor who worked at the biotech company the day of Sanjay's death. The janitor eventually winds up at Goldman's lab, where he reunites with Molly, his biological sister and Goldman's daughter. The case remains unsolved as Molly breaks free and escapes.

It's Mulder's turn to dream about his missing son, William. There are times when Mulder just wants to watch sci-fi movies with his kid and be a father. But there are darker times when Mulder is glad he has no children to take care of. Mulder cannot bear to lose William in an alien abduction, like Samantha.
