Taylor Swift Supports Kesha with Large Donation, Demi Lovato Claims "It's Not Enough"

Demi Lovato has turned into one of the most outspoken women in the entertainment industry in the past few years. So it's no surprise that she's supported Kesha after courts decided she had to fulfill her contract with Dr. Luke. After Taylor Swift made a huge donation to Kesha, Lovato took to Twitter to speak to Swift -- and say that throwing money isn't enough.

After Kesha was denied the possibility of exiting her contract with Sony Music without penalization, a number of stars took to social media to voice their support for the "TiK ToK" singer through the #FreeKesha hashtag, in a crowd that included Miley Cyrus and Lady Gaga, who's openly talked about her own experience as a rape victim.

Among those stars publicly speaking out in favor of Kesha was Lovato, but when Swift shared her support in a quiet way, the "Cool for the Summer" singer wasn't having it. After one of Swift's reps told USA Today that the Grammy winner had donated $250,000 to Kesha to help with legal fees (when courts had decided against her), Lovato took to Twitter to criticize her fellow singer, though not naming her specifically. "Take something to Capitol Hill or actually speak out about something and then I'll be impressed," Lovato tweeted suddenly on late Sunday night.

Not long afterwards, the singer, who has in fact spoken on Capitol Hill about mental illness, directly responded to one of her fans on Instagram, saying not everybody can give out $250,000, saying she hasn't made "as much [money] as her," now without a doubt referring to Swift. In a Twitter rant, Lovato went on to explain what "women empowerment" meant as far as she was concerned, including how women should speak up for other women even when the subject was an uncomfortable one. Swift hasn't responded to any of Lovato's comments.
