The United States is finally starting to recover from of more than 10 years of combat in the Middle East, and although America still has troops in Afghanistan, North Korea, is allegedly prepared to engage the U.S. in nuclear war.

North Korean leader Kim Jung-un has been the topic of U.S. discussions as media outlets reported that "the moment of explosion is near."

Democratic People's Republic of Korea, (DPRK) the official name for North Korea, released the following statement Wednesday:

"The moment of explosion is approaching fast. No one can say a war will break out in Korea or not and whether it will break out today or tomorrow," North Korea's state news agency KCNA declared in its latest broadside. "The responsibility for this grave situation entirely rests with the U.S. administration and military warmongers keen to encroach upon the DPRK's sovereignty and bring down its dignified social system with brigandish logic."

Most observers say the North is still years away from having the technology to deliver a nuclear warhead on a missile, according to CNN. However, North Korea does have plenty of conventional military firepower, including medium-range ballistic missiles that can carry high explosives for hundreds of miles.

US Defence Secretary Chuck Hagel, however, labelled North Korea's recent rhetoric as a threat to the US and its Asia-Pacific allies, according to Al Jareeza.

"Some of the actions they've taken over the last few weeks present a real and clear danger," Hagel told an audience at the National Defence University in Washington on Wednesday.

In attempts to reject North Korean forces, the U.S. deployed dispatched bombers, stealth fighters and ships.

North Korea has threatened the U.S. in the past. North Korea has been issuing a blistering series of similar threats in recent weeks, citing as targets the American military installations in the Pacific islands of Hawaii and Guam, as well as the United States mainland, The New York Times reported.

The idea of a possible war with North Korea has many citizens taking to Twitter to express their opinions and concerns:
