The moment it was announced that former Miss World Aishwarya Rai Bachchan would be playing a real-life role in the upcoming Omung Kumar biographical film Sarbjit, her fans went into a tizzy. Now, the actress's intense look from the movie's poster has been released.

Bachchan will be seen playing Dalbir Kaur, the sister of Sarabjit Singh, an Indian national, who was wrongly imprisoned in a Pakistani jail, assuming he was an Indian spy. Randeep Hooda will be seen portraying Sarabjit Singh, who has undergone a taxing physical transformation to get into the skin of his character.

According to a news article published in the Times of India, the first-look poster of the film titled Sarbjit was launched at BJP President Amit Shah's official residence in New Delhi. The subject of the film was greatly hailed by Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways and Shipping, and Shah alike.

The poster showcases Bachchan in a totally de-glam avatar, sans any make-up. The bespectacled actress sports an intense look in the poster, which clearly highlights her plight to get her brother acquitted of all charges, for which he was wrongly accused way back in 1991.

According to India Today, Singh, a farmer and resident of Punjab, in an inebriated state, strayed into Pakistan's border and was immediately arrested by the Pakistan government. Assuming Singh was spying for his nation, they convicted him, sentencing him to death. This sentence was later reduced to imprisonment.

Singh spent 23 long years in anonymity in Pakistan, until his sister Kaur, who met him three times in the Pakistani prison, pledged to get him released with the support of both the countries' governments. Her efforts had begun to bear fruits but Singh's jail inmates killed him when Afzal Guru was hanged in India.

Bachchan, who is currently shooting for the film, had recently met Kaur to know more about her character.
