We finally got a glimpse of Tom Holland as Spider-Man in the surprise final scene of the second Captain America: Civil War trailer, but fans are wondering if the Heart of the Sea star will be able to pull off the role as the young webslinger. Now Daredevil Season 2 actor Jon Bernthal is defending his The Pilgrimage costar, stating that Holland "fought" for the role and is "a force of nature!"

Bernthal recently sat down with Complex, where he spoke about how he and Holland became close while working on The Pilgrimage.

"I worked with Tom intensely in Ireland on the movie that we did; a group of us were all living in a remote part of Western Ireland, eating every meal together, on set all day with each other," Bernthal revealed before sharing that Holland left a lasting impression on him.

"I got to tell you, in all my years in Hollywood, I'm probably more impressed with Tom Holland than anyone else I've ever met," he confessed, adding, "For a guy his age, he's a force of nature."

Bernthal, who actually had to try out for the Punisher role together with Holland in a joint audition, admitted that he witnessed how the young actor worked hard to be the new Spider-Man.

"I saw him go through the process of trying to win that role," he shared.

But how did Holland nab the coveted Peter Parker role?

"He fought for it," Bernthal stated. "He just went out and got it. That's not an easy feat."

The former Walking Dead star is undoubtedly supportive of Holland. Bernthal was previously asked whether he was on Team Captain America or Team Iron Man in Civil War, and he immediately responded, "Team Spider-Man!"

The second season of Daredevil is currently available for streaming on Netflix. Captain America: Civil War will hit theaters on May 6.
