When it comes to her future wedding to Russell Wilson, singer Ciara says "marriage is something I look forward to." During her interview with Essence, the mother-of-one opened up about her past and talked about how it helped her become who she is today.

"Marriage is something I look forward to. I believe in family, and the beauty of two people committing to spend their lives together. We talk about everything," Ciara claimed. "To me, to both of us, that's the foundation you need for love to flourish and reach its highest place. I want to live with as much lightness as possible, so I can stay focused on my love of God, and being the best mom, and the best person, I can be."

Ciara told the magazine that she remembered talking to her friends and telling them her goals and ambitions before they came true. "I made a goal sheet," Ciara explained.

Her list included selling hit records, and having a successful singing career. Ciara seems to be doing well so far. She has been nominated for Grammys in the past, and some of her hit songs reached number one and two of her albums made it to platinum.

Ciara also had dreams to have a family and now it looks like that will come true. Despite her ugly breakup with her son's father, Ciara is still not letting love be overlooked in her life. Ciara and the rapper, Future were engaged back in 2013. They welcomed a son, Future Zahir Wilburn in 2014 and ended their engagement a few months after.

"I'd always wanted to have my own family," she admitted. "And my pregnancy was planned when I was at a point in my life when I was finally ready to take on the responsibility."

As for the breakup, Ciara said: "That wasn't necessarily part of my vision. But the moment I realized I was going to be a single mother, I had to reflect and reorganize my thoughts. I decided to trust that God had a plan for me, and move forward one day at a time."

After trusting God and declaring her wants of a "God-fearing man with a very fun spirit who loves kids" Ciara was taken by surprise when she received it. The singer and Wilson are planning on tying the knot soon after dating since 2015.

MStars News previously reported that the Seattle Seahawks quarterback popped the question in March during a romantic vacation. Their wedding details haven't been revealed yet.
