Paul Feig's 'Ghostbusters' 2016 Reboot's Trailer Is Most Disliked on YouTube

Ever since it was announced that Bridesmaids director Paul Feig would be helming a 2016 reboot of Ghostbusters, many said it was unnecessary -- and the project got even more heat when it was revealed that it'd be all-female. Now, the numbers are out: months before the release date, the film's trailer is the most disliked of its kind on YouTube.

The Google-owned company recently released a playlist of the most disliked videos on the media-sharing platform (unsurprisingly topped by Justin Bieber's "Baby"), and while the list is highly populated by smashes from some of the biggest music artists in the world, there are a few trailers -- and Ghostbusters is by far the most disliked one.

Set at 23 on the playlist, the Ghostbusters trailer has over 499 thousand dislikes nearly two months after Sony Pictures released it. When entering the video's actual page on the site, it's clear there's no love lost on fans of the original '80s saga, and the predisposition to hate the movie months before its release is palpable.

"Movies like this, are the reason why people use PirateBay," writes YouTube user Kang Abraham, referencing the broadly illegal torrent-sharing platform. Other comments on the platform call for a boycott of the upcoming film and others saying it'll be this year's Fantastic Four, Fox's superhero remake that flopped spectacularly.

The Ghostbusters reboot will star Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon in the leading title roles, with Thor actor Chris Hemsworth playing the group's secretary. The original film's stars Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Sigourney Weaver are set to make appearances in the reboot, with Aykroyd acting as one of the film's exec producers.

Fans have been throwing hate on the film for a number of reasons since it was announced, but that does happen with every remake. The new film will have to be truly spectacular to live up to the preconceived notions many have about it.

Ghostbusters will reach theaters on July 15.
