Michelle Collins Leaving 'The View': Star Not Returning to Whoopi Goldberg Show

It doesn't seem that the high turnover at Whoopi Goldberg-hosted ABC daytime talk show The View is stopping anytime soon. Following last seasons mass exodus with Rosie O'Donnell, Rosie Perez, and Nicolle Wallace's exits, it seems that Michelle Collins will also be departing the show.

While the star and comedienne has only been with the program for a season, it seemed that execs fired her before the new season was to begin filming in the fall.

According to Radar Online, the heads behind the show just didn't want to renew their deal with Collins.

"ABC executives recently made the decision not to renew her contract," a source explained to Variety.

However, fans don't have to bid farewell to Collins just yet as she will stay with the program for the remainder of the summer, leaving in the fall.

What might have lead to the star's departure from the series could have been some of the controversies that she encountered in the last year, including her comments made about nurses, which didn't go well with viewers.

The comments were made regarding Miss America contestant Kelley Johnson who delivered a monologue about being a nurse during the talent portion of the pageant. Collins and fellow co-host Joy Behar made jokes about this during an on-air show, which caused some big time sponsors including Johnson & Johnson to back out of advertising.

However, despite her firing, it appears that ABC had nothing but nice things to say about her regarding her involvement with the show over the last year.

"Michelle is smart, opinionated and funny," the network explained to Variety. "She's been a great addition to the panel this year. When we are ready to make an announcement about next season, we will."
