'Star Wars: Episode 8' Filming Ends Soon: Mark Hamill Reveals Wrapping Date!

The immediate follow-up to last year's mega smash Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Episode 8, has been filming in different locations (mostly London) for the better part of this year, but it seems its cast and crew will be out of a job soon enough: Mark Hamill, reprising his classic role as Luke Skywalker, has just revealed the wrapping date for the shoot!

Days after Hamill gave fans a big scare when he said he'd be out of a job once Episode 8 wrapped (obviously everyone assumed that meant Luke was going to die), the actor is going back into the light and making up with fans with some new details of the Episode 8 shoot. Hamill, who's very active and generally awesome on Twitter, took to the social network last weekend to announce when the film will be wrapping up: July 22!

As website Entertainent.ie reports, the actor has continued to give snippets of information to fans in the last few days, sometimes even feeding the rumor monster by saying things like leaving Episode 8 "feels like last week of school-Clearing out locker (trailer)."

He's not the only cast member who enjoys teasing fans about the future of arguably the biggest franchise in film history. Daisy Ridley, who débuted as new heroine Rey in last year's Force Awakens, is also pretty big on giving fans tiny heart attacks by sharing bits from the set. Last Monday, the 24-year-old actress posted a snap from the set of what looks a lot like the deserted planet where she found Luke at the end of the last film.

The still-untitled Episode 8, directed by Looper filmmaker Rian Johnson, brings back most of the cast of Force Awakens, mixing icons like Hamill and Carrie Fisher reprising the role of Leia with new cast members like Ridley, John Boyega, Golden Globe winner Oscar Isaac and Adam Driver. There are a few new guests to the party, too, including Oscar winner Benicio del Toro, Laura Dern and newcomer Kelly Marie Tran.

Episode 8 will land in theaters on Dec. 15, 2017.
