The official Tamagotchi website from Bandai has announced a short film for the Tamagotchi brand.

The short film titled "Eiga Tamagotchi: Himitsu no Otodake Daisakusen" (Tamagotchi the Movie: Great Secret Delivery Strategy) will premiere alongside "Kami-sama Minarai: Himitsu no Cocotama" (God Apprentices: Secretive Cocotama). The film's premiere will be on Japan's week long holiday from the end of April to the start of May called Golden Week. This short film is in celebration of Tamagotchi's 20th anniversary.

According to Anime News Network, the film is said to include some "nostalgic elements" for parent's and children's enjoyment. It was back in 1996 when Bandai first launched the Tamagotchi product and achieved 40 million sales in the first batch.

Since then Tamagotchi launched their first two anime series that aired back in 1997 - 1998 "Anime TV de Hakken! Tamagotchi" and "Saikō! Tamagotchi." After that came the show "Tamagotchi! Yume Kira Dream" in 2012, then came "Tamagotchi! Miracle Friends" in 2013. Another anime series was released on 2014 titled "Go-Go Tamagotchi!", and finally the "Tamagotchi! Tama Tomo Daishū GO!" anime series in 2015.

This new Anime movie short comes with a new character named "Teppuru." The last Tamagotchi feature film was released back in 2008 "Eiga! Tamagotchi Uchū Ichi Happy na Monogatari!?"
