VIZ Media has announced the "Sailor Moon R" movie to premier January next year in "selected" theaters in the United States.

VIZ Media and Toei Animation will be working with Eleven Arts to have the film showing in over 300 theaters in the country. According to IGN, the U.S. premiere for "Sailor Moon R" movie will also include a movie short debut titled "Make Up! Sailor Guardians." The film will be dubbed in English, however there will be selected showings that will be Japanese dubbed with English subtitles.

Eleven Arts will be posting the list of participating theaters and will be selling tickets in advance in their official site. Sailor Moon R: The Movie first came out back in 1993 in Japan.

The story was when Fiore returned to Earth to give the flowers he promised Mamoru, but the flower called "Kisenian" turned out to be evil and manipulated Mamoru to spread its seeds. The evil Kisenian flower starts to drain the energy of the planet and every being in it. The Kisenian flower was able to accomplish this by taking advantage over long-lost friendship between Fiore and Mamoru, it is now up to Sailor Moon and the Sailor Senshi to destroy this evil entity and save the Earth.

According to Inquisitr, the redub film will include voice actors from Sailor Moon Crystal. Ben Diskin (voice actor for Umino Gurio), will be taking the role of Fiore for Sailor Moon R: The Movie. Actress Stephanie Sheh will be voicing Usagi Tsukino / Sailor Moon and Robbie Daymond as Tuxedo Mask. The film and the short film is expected to hit the screens on January 17, 2017.
