To celebrate the release of "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" in theatres, "Star Wars: Battlefront" will have a Rogue One DLC in time for the holiday season. Electronic Arts' DICE division also confirmed a balance update would be coming out along with the expansion.

Officially titled "Rogue One: Scarif", the Downloadable Content (DLC) will add four new maps to the game, including Scarif, the tropical planet seen on the film's trailer. Two new characters will be joining the fray through this expansion: the Rebel Jyn Erzo and Orson Krennic of the Empire. In the movie, Jyn (Felicity Jones) is the leader of the rebel group that was tasked to steal the plans of the Death Star, while Krennic (Ben Mendelsohn) plays a major part in the birth of the massive battle station.

While the DLC is a paid service, there are also some other free content that players can enjoy on its release on December 6th. According to Game Rant, the freebies include a "new game mode" that features space and ground combat. Playstation 4 owners will get an additional treat, as the game will offer a Rogue One VR mission as a freebie. With the use of the Playstation VR Headsets, players will get the chance to fly an X-Wing in virtual reality.

Along with the DLC release, iDigital Times reports that a patch for the game will also come out alongside Rogue One: Scarif. This update will look into fixing some bugs the game is experiencing since the last October's patch update, like the glitches on Heroes vs Villains mode and invincibility exploits on certain characters.

Released in 2015, Star Wars Battlefront is an action shooter game developed by EA DICE. Considered as a reboot of the Battlefront series, it is available for the Playstation 4, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows. "Rogue One: Scarif" is the third, and possibly final DLC for the game, as Star Wars Battlefront 2 is scheduled to hit the shelves in 2017.
