Super Mario, just like Pokemonis a household name that gamers and non-gamers know. Nintendo has announced that their newest mobile game Super Mario Run will be released to iOS devices like the iPhones and iPads this December 15. The app is also coming to Android devices soon and it is rumored to be in 2017, but the biggest question is, will it do as well as Pokemon GO?

Super Mario Run is a mobile game that has been advertised to be playable using only one hand. Nintendo's newest side-scrolling was formally announced by its creator Shigeru Miyamoto during Apple's press event earlier this year, Mobile & Apps noted. Additionally, "Super Mario Run is officially the first game from the Mario franchise to traverse mobile gaming.

Apple's CEO Tim Cook expressed his delight when it was revealed that Super Mario Run mobile will be released to iOS devices first for the Android. The game will officially be free for download next month but there will be additional charges. Those who want to play Super Mario Run in its entirety will have to pay a one-time fee of $10 to get an all-access pass.

With Super Mario Run coming from Nintendo, it is hard not to compare it with the highly successful Pokemon GO app which seems to have taken the world by storm during its release. There are reports saying that Super Mario Run may not be as globally successful as Pokemon GO because a survey indicated that the Mario game is not as widely known or advertised, according to Venture Beat.

Furthermore, it is not known how Nintendo will keep players engaged to Super Mario Run compared to other games like Clash of Clans, Madden NFL Football, and Mobile Strike.

In other news, demand for Nintendo's NES Classic Edition console is still going high. Buying options for the gaming system can be found here. Nintendo's newest 3DS games Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon can be purchased online as well.
