Chris Tomlin: 'Burning Lights Tour'- Sold Out Tickets For Almost Every Show
Chris Tomlin is currently on his "Burning Lights Tour," and it seems to be an overwhelming success. Most of the shows on the tour so far have been completely sold out with few exceptions, according to the Chris Tomlin website.
Tomlin's latest album, "Burning Lights," was released this past January and it finished week one of its release at number one on the Billboard 200 chart, marking only the fourth time in history that a Contemporary Christian album has done so. To support the new album Tomlin and his band took to the road on February 19 for a two-month, 36-date U.S. arena tour, according to Live Design.
"On this record, I feel like it's the best music that I've done so far," Tomlin said in an interview with KSBJ.
He is joined on the tour by Louie Giglio, a pastor at Passion City Church, and Kari Jobe, a fellow Christian music artist. Giglio is know for two books that he has written entitled, "The Air I breathe: Worship As a Way of Life" and "I Am not But I know I am: Welcome To The Story of God."
As for Jobe, she has really been able to grow as a musician and gain a great deal of exposure through performing alongside Tomlin.
"By recently just going on tour with Chris Tomlin, Kari has been hitting the charts with either the Best New Album or Best New Song since 2010," according to Breathecast.
"Kari is such an amazing girl, she has incredible music and just her voice, oh my goodness, when she sings I get chills all over," Tomlin said in the KSBJ interview. "And she has such a great heart of worship and, for me, thats the best key for her on tour. I want someone who really has that heart to lead people to God."
Tomlin also explained the meaning behind the lyrics of the last song on his album entitled, "Shepard Boy," during the interview. The lyrics read, "I'm just a Shepard boy, singing to a choir of burning lights."
Tomlin said that the burning lights represent "the people". "And what a privilege it is to stand before people... We just want to lead people to God, give people a voice to sing to Him and worship Him," he said.
The tour kicked off in Charleston, Vest Virginia and wraps up with a final performance at Denver's Red Rocks Amphitheatre on May 4, according to Live Design.
The tour is finishing up with a little over a week left. It will be in California until this Sunday, April 28, and will move on to Nevada, Arizona and New Mexico after that, finally drawing to a close in Denver, Colorado.
Tonights performance is already sold out, as well as the performance in Arizona and the final concert of the tour, in Colorado.
"With Kari opening that night up into how it's going to end, you don't want to miss it," Tomlin told KSBJ.
