Hugh Laurie won the best-supporting Golden Globe for playing Richard Roper in AMC's limited series, the Night Manager. But after what he said in speech, he should also be awarded for cracking the best Trump joke at the show.

English actor Hugh Laurie was recently honoured with the best-supporting award at the Golden Globe for playing the arms dealer, Richard Roper in AMC's limited series The Night Manager. When the actor, now comedian came to receive the award and give a thank-you speech, he had the audiences in splits. He cracked the best possible Trump joke at the show.

"I suppose it's made more amazing by the fact that I'll be able to say I won this at the last ever Golden Globes," said the actor, who started out in comedy as one-half of Jeeves & Wooster. "I don't mean to be gloomy it's just that it has the words 'Hollywood,' 'Foreign,' and 'Press' in the title. I just don't know ... I also think to some Republicans even the word 'association' is slightly sketchy," USAToday reported him as saying. He said that he has accepted the award on the behalf of psychopathic billionaires around the world.

It appears like Hollywood, as a whole is not very fond of the recently-elected President, Donald Trump. The Independent reported even actor Meryl Streep made quite obvious references to Trump in her Golden Globes acceptance speech on Sunday night, 9 January. Apart from her, the host, Jimmy Fallon beat them both with his punch line when he first dished out Trump with his Trump-inspired quip at the beginning of his introductory monologue.

Fallon continued to allude to Trump as he made a Game Of Thrones reference as well. While Meryl Streep didn't exactly mention Trump's name, she did criticise him in her own way. It appears like politics certainly was an unavoidable subject during the 2017 Golden Globes.
