Board Game 'Monopoly' Players will choose Tokens through online voting

For the first time in the whole history of the Monopoly game since 1903, Hasbro, owner of the Game Monopoly has invited online voting from the players to include or exclude tokens. Hasbro will now decide the fortune of the tokens after voting process is completed on January 31, 2017. The management of the board game has decided to include tokens on the basis of players votes. The fortune of the token will be decided through online voting. With current classic pieces like Thimble and Top Hat, there are more than 50 more pieces included in the options including a Penguin and a rubber Duck.

TIME reported that modern day tokens like a computer, wireless phone and a sports car are also included. Last time in 2013, the iron piece the hazel, the cat was replaced. Many fans are hesitant to accept the influence of internet in their gaming activities.

Some of the players are really upset and recorded their concerns on internet. Other tokens include a hashtag, a Cowboy hat, a Cowboy shoe, an iron, a Battleship, Racing Car, Wheelbarrow and Hazel the Cat. The original Six tokens in the top board game were Thimble, top hat, iron, shoe, battleship, and the cannon which has now been retired, reports ITV.

Monopoly was originated in 1903 as board game in the United States. In the course of time, it was proved that reward based economy is better than that of the Monopolist economy. And the game demonstrates the same principal of Economics. In 2003, Hasbro organized a National level tournament of Monopoly on train from Chicago to Atlantic city, the train was chartered by the organizers. The new regular edition of Monopoly is expected to be issued in March this year after the voting process is completed and the new tokens are assigned.

The proposed new tokens are Emoji, Hashtag, a TV, a Flip flop, a Dinosaur and a Cell phone of the early 90s. The voting will last till January 31 2017.
