The "Logan" movie has just been released today. Fans are excited to see what else is in store for Wolverine in a world where most of the mutants are gone. This is Hugh Jackman's last film as the iconic X-Men character. The trailer is bound to give viewers more teasers for the upcoming 2017 movie.

New "Logan" trailer reveals the future of mutantkind and X-Men comics

The trailer has just come out today, as per Hugh Jackman's hints yesterday on social media. The Australian actor posted a picture of the word "tomorrow" on Twitter. According to Comicbook, the new trailer will expand on the violent and depressing future in which Logan now lives.

In fact, the new trailer shows that X-23 is a bit of an X-Men fan. Yes, there are X-Men comics in this film. Logan dismisses them, though, saying that the comic books don't tell the real story behind the mutants. He also seems to hate remembering the good, old days when the Xavier School was still around.

Aside from the first and second trailers, the "Logan" marketing team has focused on uploading black and white photos on social media. The film's director, James Mangold, has been posting pictures of Wolverine and Laura Kinney (Dafne Keen) mostly on Instagram. One photo showed Logan with his claws out and another showed him sitting on his bed, in deep contemplation.

Prepare to say good-bye to favorite characters in "Wolverine 3"

It's a brutal and gritty future and it promises to make fans shed a tear or two. The "Logan" movie is as much the fans' farewell to Hugh Jackman's Wolverine as it is the actor's goodbye to a role he has played since 2000. According to Inverse, this movie will be R-rated, the second one to receive such a rating since "Deadpool".

A more wizened Logan will appear on the screen, and this time, he will be the mentor to Laura Kinney, X-23. The girl is violent and powerful. She's definitely not a little child who needs someone to rescue her. She does need a mentor and a guide, though, which is where Logan comes in.

The first trailer showed Logan with a shovel, looking down at something. There's a huge possibility he was burying Charles Xavier (Patrick Stewart), who had been Logan's mentor and friend. In "Logan" trailer 2, Logan and X-23 are seen driving in a car without Charles Xavier.

"Logan" marks the beginning of a new "X-Men" generation

In the first "Logan" movie trailer, Logan said that all mutants were gone. This hints that the film will follow some plot lines of the "Old Man Logan" arc in the comic books. This is not just Hugh Jackman's goodbye in the third Wolverine movie. It's the swan-song of the first X-Men films, which will finally wrap-up its characters and storylines to give way to the next X-Men reboot movies, which started with "X-Men: First Class".

Meanwhile, a new black and white photo of Laura was posted on Instagram some hours ago. In it, Laura is riding a wooden toy horse outside a store. In the comics, Laura a.k.a. X-23 is Wolverine's clone. The two have a father-daughter dynamic, which will clearly be explored in the movie. This storyline in the "Logan" movie expresses that it's time for a new generation of heroes.

Donald Pierce (Boyd Holbrook) is a half-cyborg villain whose mission is to retrieve X-23. Pierce works for Transigen, a company bent on turning young mutants into weapons. The "Logan" movie cast will be joined by Stephen Merchant who will play Caliban, one of Wolverine's allies. It will be the only X-Men movie to come out this year, on March 31, 2017.
