Nicki Minaj Clothing Line for K-Mart to Include Swimsuits: 'Idol' Judge Receives 'Barbz' Input on Twitter, Will Collection be Another Wardrobe Malfunction or Va Va Voom?
The Nicki Minaj "empire" is in the process of continuing its expansion!
The American Idol judge is currently hard at work on her clothing line, which Minaj launched back in March with K-Mart and Shop Your Way, and the "Super Bass singer" revealed to her "Barbz" on Twitter this weekend that The Nicki Minaj Collection will definitely include swimsuits.
"Working on the swimsuit portion of my line now...AHHHH!!!! Barbz r gna spazz!!!!" Nicki tweeted on April 28th.
Hoping to avoid another infamous wardrobe malfunction, Minaj sought out input from her "Barbz" and "Kenz" via Twitter, ensuring that her "magical" bathing suit line will be "Va Va Voom" for every Nicki fan.
"Barbz, tell me your desires regarding your swim suits... my team is standing by to take your orders! your wish is my command! Luv, Barbie."
While starting out productive and innocent, the conversation surrounding Minaj's swimwear quickly took a racy turn. Here's some "insight" we've managed to receive about the swimsuit portion of Nicki's forthcoming line (along with some random facts about Nicki and her fans)...
1. It will include plus size bathing suits because as Nicki states, "no barb [is] left behind."
2. Swim trunks & speedos for males may be available (Nicki still has to think about it).
3. A special "one piece with a hole from front to back. ;)" may be featured.
4. Nicki's back size is a 32 & after inquiring about her fans' bra size, she realized "dang my barbz got some big ass titties," (so she'll have to take these measurements into consideration).
5. With each swimsuit purchased, a complimentary "breast exam" will be provided by Nicki for her barbz 21 and older...(obviously joking?)
After some more dirty banter was exchanged, which included asking her male fan-base for their "ball size" based on a one, two, three, or four "grab," Nicki decided to conclude her "market research" and thanked fans for their help.
"My team and I will look into your requests and come back w/a magical swimsuit line," she promised.
At a press conference in Hollywood back in March, where the star first launched Nicki Minaj Collection, Minaj did give some real background about her plans for the K-Mart apparel line, which will eventually turn into a "complete lifestyle imprint."
As Hip Hop Wired reported, the fashionista stated that her collection is going to be filled with tons of "quality" pieces. "My big thing is that it cannot look cheesy and cheap, and that is what I want to give my beautiful Barbz."
The hip-hop artist also explained her reasoning behind wanting to create a fashion line and choosing to pair with K-Mart retailers. Citing the clothing line as an opportunity to expand her audience, Minaj revealed:
"I wanted to branch out...I feel like fashion is something that represents everyone. It doesn't matter what you do in your life, as a woman, you want to feel beautiful. You wanna' feel like your jeans fit you in the right places. So I was like 'You know what, I don't want to limit the brand.' I don't want to make it too expensive, because who am I kidding, a lot of my fans are not going to go and buy a $2000 pair of shoes, especially not [in this] economy. Kmart is a trusted place, people already go there, they already have their clientele and so I [I thought] 'If can just bring my brand over to there, I think my fans would be happy. "
"They really connect with middle America," she continued about K-Mart, "I feel like I haven't really been exposed to that side of the country yet. Because what I do in Hip-Hop culture it kind of is for a specific person."
Nicki hopes that her upcoming clothing line will attract even more Barbz, as her fan-base is always her #1 priority. Stressing the importance of her fan's input, Minaj also explained the other outlet for her forthcoming line: Shopyourway.com.
"It's important that my fans are going to know that if Nicki is putting it in her line, then Nicki is going to be wearing it. That's why on Shopyourway.com we are creating catalogs, and I get to see what my fans like."
Exclusive videos and footage will be posted on the website so that "Barbz" can also be involved in the design process, thus enabling them to be "members of the team," notes MTV Style.
"They'll be seeing exclusive meetings and phone calls and sketches. And before you know it, the line will be here. My Barbz will be giving me information and their opinions and their true feelings."
The Nicki Minaj Collection does not have a specific release date yet, but it will reportedly make its debut some time in 2013. Check out all the details surrounding the star's forthcoming line by watching her launch video here.
