Yuri!!! On Ice is an anime about figure skating. It is about Yuri Katsuki and his career as a figure skating. With his defeat on "Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final", he went on a hiatus. When he visits his childhood friend Yuko on "Ice Castle Hasetsu", he performed a perfect replication of the advanced skating routine that is performed by famous Russian figure skater Victor Nikiforov. Someone secretly recorded the footage of Yuri's performance and uploaded it to the Internet and it has caught Victor's attention. Victor travelled to Kyushu to offer Yuri a new start for his figure skating career.

An interview with Kubo can be found here for more content about the anime. Enjoy.
