Miley Cyrus Featured On 'Elle' Cover, UK Cover Shoot Debut, June 2013 Addition: 'Punk And A Little Edgy', Gives Justin Bieber Advice About Living In The Moment
Miley Cyrus will be featured prominently on the cover of ELLE UK's June 2013 addition.
The photo shoot for ELLE UK was her first big UK cover shoot, according to Cover Media. The singing and acting star describes her style as "punk and a little edgy," and rocks her short, bleached blonde, spiked hair due on the cover of the magazine.
"ELLE UK is really cool and it is a little different. I think it shows a different side of style that I feel is really me," Cyrus revealed in a behind-the-scenes video, according to Cover Media. "It's really cool to be able to shoot this as I haven't had the chance to do much for the UK like this yet. ELLE is a really cool magazine and my first big cover."
She will be featured in a ten-page spread modeling some of the season's most iconic fashions, sporting designer outfits from names such as Saint Laurent, Fendi, Emilio Pucci Simone Rocha, and more, Cover Media reports.
"Some of the designers we used are those who are good at portraying a strong woman," Alison Edmond, on set fashion stylist, explained, according to Cover Media.
Although the magazine features plunging necklines and brave braless looks, Cyrus says that being a star is more than just that.
"A star is someone who doesn't have to take her clothes off to be sexy because you naturally have star power," she told ELLE, according to Handbag.com. "Sex does sell, but you have to find a way that's not just showing your tits. I don't want to be a glorified model. They just walk on stage and it's all about their clothes - or lack of clothes."
Make-up artist, Melanie Inglessis, used black eye make-up and a nude lip color for the photo shoot, Cover Media reports. "I really wanted to go for a rock 'n' roll look to bring Miley's personality out," she said.
Her hair stylist, Jenny Cho, explained the Mohawk style featured in the magazine saying, "She's young and fearless so I created something playful and fun."
Cyrus compared the photo shoot to her music production because there were so many different outfits for her to choose from, according to Cover Media. "It's like doing an album where you don't want to cut the songs you do like but you have to choose," she said. "It's like there's so many options and outfits and pictures, you feel like, 'How do I know this is the one I'm really wanting?' I'm glad I don't have to edit through the pictures."
And Miley Cyrus 'gets it,' even beyond the world of fashion. According to PerezHilton, she has a thing or two to teach Justin Bieber about living in the moment.
"I noticed he was taking all these photos of people and doing a lot of sh*t, and I just grabbed him and said, 'Just take a snapshot in your brain of this moment, so you don't forget," the ELLE UK cover girl said, according to PerezHilton.
Cyrus explained that she speaks from experience, having been just like him at one point, PerezHilton reports. "I don't remember my Hannah Montana movie premiere - and my 3D movie trumped everyone's at the box office - I don't remember being there. All I remember from that night is that I stopped and got a strawberry milkshake beforehand. That's all. It's crazy. You think you're in the present but you're not," she said.
