‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ Spoilers: Title Poster Hints At Luke’s Possible Death In New Film

Lucasfilm has just revealed the title of the latest "Star Wars" film. "Episode VIII" is now officially "Star Wars: The Last Jedi". This time the "Star Wars" logo is in red instead of yellow as it was in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens". This got a lot of fans speculating whether the color change hints at the movie's plot, which writers have already teased will show a little of Kylo Ren's humanity.

Who is the last Jedi in "Star Wars: Episode VIII"?

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the last Jedi will most likely refer to Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), since he was also the one referred to in "Star Wars: Return of the Jedi" in 1983. Luke was the known as the last Jedi after Yoda's death and he had held that moniker before the events of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens", where it was shown that the Force was also strong with Rey (Daisy Ridley).

There's a possibility that Luke will be killed off in the next "Star Wars" film. It would perhaps pave the way for Rey - or the next generation - to step up to the task of striking back against the Empire. Fans have already speculated that Rey will not be a Jedi, but something else, something that will bring a balance to the Force. Granted, the Jedi doesn't just refer to one person anyway.

"Star Wars: The Last Jedi" spoilers

Movieweb reports that "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" will feature another Lightsaber duel between Rey and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), who reportedly has kidnapped Finn (John Boyega), while Poe (Oscar Issac) works with General Leia (Carrie Fisher) to find Rey and Luke. The film is also set to feature some tear-jerker moments like when Luke and Leia finally reunite.

The "Star Wars" franchise has been known for amazing announcement posters, from the very simple but iconic "Coming to your galaxy this summer" for "A New Hope" to the minimalist but foreboding one in "The Phantom Menace" (which showed a young Anakin Skywalker with a shadow in the form of his future, Darth Vader).

Without a doubt, the announcement poster and title hint at the twists in the next batch of "Star Wars" films. What's for certain is that the next few movies will say goodbye to the old generation and welcome the new one. "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" will premiere on Dec. 15, 2017.
