Niantic Labs has just rolled out a new "Pokemon Go" update. Unfortunately, it did not include the highly anticipated Gen 2 Pokemon that fans have been waiting for. On the other hand, new evidence mined by enthusiasts could prove that Gen 2 creatures are on the way.

Heavy notes that the latest update is not a big one. Players will notice that the new "Pokemon Go" update now allows for faster loading time when opening the game. The Pokemon Go Plus issues have also been resolved. However, there was no sign of Gen 2 Pokemon.

Despite the absence of the highly anticipated new creatures, The Silph Road data miners have previously reported that Niantic Labs may soon unveil Gen 2 Pokemon in the game. According to the Daily Star, items found in the recent update's code is said to be references to the new pocket monsters which have yet to be released for "Pokemon Go" fans.

Experts from YouTube channel Trainer Tips also believe that the highly anticipated Gen 2 Pokemon update may be unveiled earlier than initially expected. The enthusiasts noted that Niantic is now pushing "Pokemon Go" players to update their apps to the latest versions. This could mean that the developer is up for something "very big."

At this point, it is unclear if Niantic is indeed prepping fans for a huge update. However, the experts suggest that an upcoming huge expansion may feature the following: Gen 2 Pokemon, Shiny Pokemon, and Pokemon Genders. So far, fans are particularly interested in Gen 2 Pokemon.

Meanwhile, Redditor S. Dangles recently came up with a theory suggesting that Niantic will he holding an April Fool's Day event that will feature Magikarp. The "Pokemon Go" analyst suggested that during the holidays, Pikachu was a common creature that fans could capture. The Pikachu medal was also easier to obtain during the season.

Slash Gear reports that there is indeed a possibility for Niantic to Magikarp for the alleged April Fool's Day event. Catching big Magikarp isn't easy in "Pokemon Go." If the developer unleashes a huge number of Magikarp for players, it will be easier to get the Fisherman Gold Medal that many fans have been wanting to obtain. Niantic has yet to address the speculations.
