"Star Wars Episode 8 The Last Jedi" filming had already finished before the tragic death of Carrie Fisher in December 2016. Now discussions are being held whether her character would return in "Star Wars Episode 9" or not.

Fisher played the iconic role of Princess Leia in the first and the original "Star Wars" trilogy. She will reprise her role as General Leia Organa "Star Wars Episode 8 The Last Jedi," and was scheduled to appear in the last movie in the third trilogy, "Star Wars Episode 9."

Now that Fisher is no more with the world, Disney is wondering how to do away with the scenes that Fisher was supposed to appear in. There are plenty of ways in which the scenes that were originally supposed to feature Fisher could be dealt with, and according to The Independent, one of these ways is to eliminate her presence in an active role.

That is, her character may still be talked about in the upcoming movie, however, she may not appear in any of the scenes altogether. Another way by which Disney could try to fulfill Fisher's absence is by using her unused footage and dialogues, which have not been used in any of the previous movies.

Making use of CGI technique to make General Leia Organa is yet another promising strategy that Disney may decide to use. This technique was used in recently released "Star Wars: A Rouge One Story" as well to depict young Princess Leia.

However, Lucasfilm confirmed after Fisher's death that they will not make use of CGI to bring her character back in the future "Star Wars" movie. This means that Disney and Lucasfilm could end up changing the plot of the movie to show that General Leia Organa is gone.

According to the Sun, Warwick Davis returns in the upcoming film, however, his role has not been disclosed yet. He played the role of an Ewok in "Star Wars: The Return of the Jedi."

Meanwhile, Youtube user and "Star Wars" enthusiast Mike Zeroh recently shared a video that suggests that Luke Skywalker may turn to the dark side in "Star Wars Episode 9." However, this will happen after the death of his sister, General Leia Oragana.

Thus, it is not confirmed how or whether Fisher's character would return in the "Star Wars Episode 9 " or not. If she does, then Princess Leia would have to return back from the dead. Here is the video that talks about Luke Skywalker transformation:
