"Sherlock" Season 4 is finally back. Fans have been waiting for its return but the recent episodes are controversial. In view of this, Mark Gatiss has finally responded to the backlash.

Independent reported that fans long to see Benedict Cumberbatch's character solving rational cases minus the explosions and fist fights. It seems that the crime drama TV series has turned into an action TV series that it is likened to the film James Bond.

Unfortunately, fan's don't like it. Due to the changes in format, "Sherlock" Season 4 received an intense backlash. However, it seems that Gatiss knows to play the game too well. He knows that unpleasant amount of attention helps sometimes but there is no intention to go off piste with Sherlock.

In response to the critics complaining about Sherlock going rogue and slowly becoming James Bond, the creator wrote a poem for the newspaper's letter page. According to Gatiss, Sherlock Holmes is more than an intellectual brain that solves problems from his chair. He explained this on his poem, to which he spent three hours to finish. It instantly went viral.

According to the "Sherlock" creator, he had better things to do but he wrote the poem and enjoyed it. As a bonus, it was well-received by the supporters. In fact, it gave him more attention compared to his previous interviews. He was invited to the New York Times and Vanity Fair.

Back to the most popular detective, Gatiss admitted that it's difficult to steer clear from backlash especially with a project as successful as "Sherlock." However, he accepted it and even joked about it.

"We toyed with calling one of the episodes Backlash, because it's time," Mart Gatiss told The Guardian. "though now regarded as a classic, was very controversial. A lot of people hated it."
