Apart from Tom Brady's comeback in a major way and Lady Gaga's epic performance at the Pepsi Halftime show, viewers were treated to a surprise by Netflix when it aired a 30 second teaser trailer of "Stranger Things" Season 2 which included, among all things the release date for the sophomore season.

There were plenty of clues left by the trailer but it mainly confirmed one of the questions plaguing the minds of fans ever since Millie Bobbie Brown's character Eleven sacrificed herself to destroy the monster from the Upside Down in the Season 1 finale. The trailer showed that young actress reprising her role but it was unsure where she actually was, Gizmodo reported.

Aside from the use of a clip of an Eggo commercial, a snack that the character was quite fond of, Mike could be heard calling out the name of Eleven. Another frame showed an upside down shot of the character presumably stuck in the Upside Down.

"Stranger Things Season 2" will also tackle what happened to Will after he was saved from the Upside Down as he is shown undergoing some tests and being monitored. The date on the footage shows October 30, 1984, the eve of Halloween and a year after the events of the first season. Most of the events are expected to take place around Halloween as boys can be seen in a clip sportuing Ghostbuster uniforms without Will.

Will is expected to play a pivotal role this season as his tests see him drawing a monster similar to the creature from "Close Encounters from the Third Kind." The new creature is bigger than the first monster from the Upside Down and is expected to attack the whole town if it turns out that the creature is not a figment of Will's dream.

One of the theories that spawned from the creature's appearance was that it could be Barb who, because of the time she spent stuck in the Upside Down, may have transformed into a monster who wants to exact revenge against those who wronged her, Polygon reported.

Sheriff Hopper is also expected to explore his own storyline this season as the teaser showed him being thrown back by an explosion at Joyce's house after he touches a wall. He is also shown on another sequence digging something reluctantly at night which may have something to do with the deal he could have entered with the suits at the Hawkins' Laboratory.

"Stranger Things" Season 2 is expected to be released by Netflix on October 31, 2017.
