Numerous news outlets have created misleading articles regarding the release date of "Rick and Morty" Season 3 as showrunners of the animated series seem consistent in keeping their silence and may find happiness in teasing its fans. Regardless of various speculations as to when will the show come back on the small screen, new reports have suggested that the mystery has been obviously answered all this time.

According to a recent tweet of Ryan Ridley, series writer, and producer who also voices several characters in "Rick and Morty", implied that the truth regarding the release date is already revealed through Mr. Poopy Butthole. So there it is, Mr. Poopy Butthole is the answer, however, neither of these allegations once again was confirmed by the showrunners.

"What did Mr. Poopy Butthole predict at the end of season two? The release of the third season has never really been a mystery," according to Ridley. As fans can probably recall, Mr. Poopy Butthole predicted that new episodes of "Rick and Morty" could drop early this year. He said so in the post-credits sequence of "The Wedding Squanchers," the Season 2 finale. "Tune in to Rick and Morty Season 3 in, like, a year and a half... or longer," Mr. Poopy Butthole said.

Notably, "Rick and Morty" Season 2 final episode titled as "The Weddings Squanchers" was aired on Oct. 4, 2015. Thus, if based on Mr. Poopy Butthole's announcement, "Rick and Morty" Season 3 is expected to air on April 4. However, the said date is a Tuesday while the second season was aired every Sundays. Therefore, the third season will probably flash on the small screen on either April 2 or April 9. But do not let your hopes up too soon as Mr. Poopy Butthole warned "or longer," which indicates that waiting for the "Rick and Morty" Season 3 can indeed be longer.

Based on reports, Harmon kept our hopes up when he told fans at the Magic City Comic Con in January 2016 that the new season would be finished before the end of the year. Again in September, series writers Erica Rosbe and Sarah Carbiener supported the 2016 release during a chat for the Chicks Who Script podcast.

But those hopes were crushed when two months later, Harmon announce the postponement of "Rick and Morty" Season 3 release date. As to date, aside from the January animatic clip released by the studio, no concrete, and satisfying teaser was yet released for "Rick and Morty"  Season 3. And that means that no teaser is equivalent to a long wait of its premiere.

Again, Adult Swim did not yet announce the official "Rick and Morty" Season 3 release date.
