"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" is one of the most awaited upcoming films this year. The follow-up to the 2014 Marvel hit promises a more exciting and thrilling story. The cocky Star-Lord will be back with his crew, Rocket, Gamora, Baby Groot, and Drax. This time, though, the sequel will revolve around what it means to be a family.

Star-Lord and Nebula will face some big daddy issues in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2". The Super Bowl trailer revealed that the team will be welcoming some new additions this year and the film's director teased that the second movie will not be anything the fans expect. It's going to be bigger and bolder.

Director James Gunn told IGN that the film will "defy expectations". "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" starts just a few months after the end of the first movie. The main characters revel in their new status as a team of intergalactic heroes and are eventually recruited to help an alien race. Things obviously go wrong and the Guardians find themselves fighting against two villains, Ayesha and Taserface.

Although the "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" film is part of the Infinity Stones agenda, Thanos won't be a big and overshadowing threat in the sequel. Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) will face some new challenges relating to his real father, Ego (Kurt Russell) and his surrogate father Yondu (Michael Rooker). Gamora (Zoe Saldana) meanwhile will be dealing with her sister Nebula (Karen Gillan), who has daddy issues of her own.

Collider talked to some of the "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" cast members on set and learned some surprising film hints. Chris Pratt said that his character, Peter Quill a.k.a. Star-Lord will learn why he was able to contain the Power Stone without combusting. Rocket (Bradley Copper) and Baby Groot (Vin Diesel) will have a must-see relationship this time. With Groot just a small bud, Rocket has to act like his protector and muscle.

The Ravagers, led by Taserface this time, will be after the Guardians on the orders of Ayesha after Rocket betrays her. Many of the Ravagers believe that Yondu was becoming soft after he let Peter go at the end of the first movie. The "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" film will also depict other Ravager groups. Taserface also teams up with Nebula in the first course of the movie. It will hit the theaters on May 5, 2017.
