Restructured Egg System For 'Pokemon Go' Valentines Event Makes Rare Pokemons Easier To Get

"Pokemon Go" players got a lowkey advance Valentines Day gift that restructured the tier system for egg hatching, making it easier to catch rare Pokemons. The Valentines' event also made more pink Pokemon like Chansey, Clefable and Porygon and their second generation pink Pokemons like Igglybuff, Cleffa and Smoochum more available to players in the season of love.

According to a report by Forbes, Niantic re-tiered the egg economy and moved 10 km category Pokemon like Pinsir, Scyther and Onix to 5 km while many Pokemons from the 5 km category like Abra, Bellsprout, Cubone, Diglett, Ekans, Exeggecute, Ghastly, Goldeen, Krabby, Machop, Nidoran (both), Oddish, Seel, Slowpoke, Venonat and Voltorb were moved down to 2k.

Two theories have emerged about this development. The first is that Niantec has recognized that the 5km tier has been overloaded with Pokemon, creating a need to reorganize the ranks. The second theory is that the studio could be gearing for the introduction of more Pokemons for Gen 2.

Because there was no announcement from the studio, it was unsure whether this development is a result of a bug. Some speculations also spread online that it could be a limited time event for Valentines or a permanent measure to realign the egg hatching structure of the popular mobile game.

A report by The Next Web said that the move was a good move to bring back players who have grown tired of the game because of the difficulty in getting rare Pokemon. Aside from the re-tiering of Pokemon levels, players will also be treated to a bigger amount of candy from catching Pokemon. For those that will be caught in the wild, candy rewards will be doubled so getting Pokemon like Dragonite and Gyrados will be fairly easier than usual.

Based on the current set up, Dragonite can be achieved with less than 100 candies and Gyrados, which require 400 candies, has become slightly more affordable. The Pokemon Go Valentines Day Event will only be valid until next Wednesday so players should definitely maximize their activities to take advantage of the special event.
