'Vikings' Season 5 News & Release Dates: Series To Be Back On Air This 2017

History channel's hit series "Vikings" is preparing for Season 5. From the previous season, the fans have seen many deaths including that of the hero - King Ragnar. In this next Season, the story will be revolving in Ivar (Alex Hoegh Andersen) who will be having an important role in unraveling the next exciting adventures on Vikings.

The creator and sole writer of the hit series, Michael Hirst, has revealed the details of the upcoming Season 5. According to Deadline, History channel has already ordered 20 episodes for the fifth season. The premiere of Season 5 is then said to feature the death and burial of Sigurd (David Lindstrom) where Ivar could be seen weeping in regret.

According to Variety, Hirst mentioned that even though he said that it is not his intention to kill Sigurd, this death and the claim on Ragnar's throne will cause the brothers to split up into different camps. It was also reported that Ivar will have plans on another killing which involves Lagertha. It was said that he is after the revenge for the death of his mother.

Furthermore, a new character to be looked forward to is Bishop Heahmund (Jonathan Rhys Meyers). He will be a threat to Ivar and will be his chief enemy who might cause war against the Vikings. The production of the upcoming season is still on going. And according to Hirst on a report from Variety, he is writing the last two episodes of Season 5. He also verified that there will only be two seasons left for Vikings.

There have been no final date of release yet for the Season 5 of the hit TV series, but it will air on History Channel and SBS One channel on Australia. Keep posted for more updates on your favorite TV shows!
