The Scandinavian country of Norway is not just the number four most expensive country to live in the world. The Nordic country now adds the title biggest spender on online games. It has been revealed that its people shell out a lot of cash for "Clash of Clans" and "Candy Crush" to its list of achievements.

Researchers from the University of Southern California analyzed receipts from App Store transactions from March 2014 to June 2015. They discovered that in-app purchases were where most of the money went to. People from Norway were found to be the biggest spenders. And they put a lot of their money on games such as "Candy Crush" and "Clash of Clans". They published their findings in a paper titled "iPhone's Digital Marketplace: Characterizing the Big Spenders".

But Norway is not alone in this, BuzzFeed reported. Its Scandinavian fellows also did not scrimp on spending for "Clash of Clans", "Candy Crush", and other in-app purchases. Overall, they make up the top 1 percent of big spenders.

Other countries aside from Norway and the rest of Scandinavia also contributed greatly to the wealth of Supercell's "Clash of Clans" and King's "Candy Crush". These were Greece, Romania, and Turkey. Meanwhile, people from the United States were not as trigger-happy when it came to in-app purchases. However, it was revealed that the state of North Dakota is into such things.

Aside from "Clash of Clans" and "Candy Crush", those from Norway also happily spent money on the following: Game of War, Boom Beach, and Hay Day. Phys.Org also noted that there was a gender gap when it came to the mobile app wars. The research showed that men spent a lot of their time with apps that had to do with sports. On the other hand, women engaged in puzzle games and educational apps.

The other area that Norway also spent on other than "Clash of Clans" and "Candy Crush" was music. Twenty-three percent of mobile purchases went into that area.
