‘The Simpsons’ Newest Couch Gag Has Homer On A Rampage for Missing Painting

In the recent couch gag for the hit animated series "The Simpsons", Homer goes through several other animated shows just to get the missing sailboat painting. And not only did he get the painting back, but also literally tore up a couple of animations in the process.

Couch gags done by different animators is not new for "The Simpsons". As Vulture reported, several others, like Banksy and Don Hertzfeldt, made memorable couch gags for "The Simpsons". It has been a tradition for the long-running franchise, which has spanned over 28 seasons and counting.

Created by guest animator Seth Green of "Robot Chicken" and "Family Guy", the couch gag for "The Simpsons" was used for the recent episode "Fatzcarraldo". In the scene, Homer notices that their sailboat painting located above the couch is gone. After asking where it could be, his son Bart suggests that another animated show could have stolen the painting. He later on adds that he could have sold in on Craigslist.

This leads Homer to step out of "The Simpsons" set, with his first destination was a set he described as a 'third grade shoebox diorama'. Clearly the set is a jab at Comedy Central's "South Park", especially with the four cardboard children that was meant to represent Cartman, Stan, Kyle and Kenny, and not to mention the bleeps that accompanied the 'colorful language'.

"The Simpsons" patriarch then finds himself on the set of "The California Raisins", wherein he accidentally murders them "Indiana Jones" style, according to Huffington Post. He then proceeds to the next room, where a character inspired by Green's "Robot Chicken" actually has the painting as his .piece de resistance'. The unnamed collector then gets a close-up while explaining his triumph of getting a memorabilia from "The Simpsons", only for the painting to be replaced with a crude drawing upon zoom out.

On his way back to "The Simpsons" set, Homer rushes through the melted bodies of the raisins, and crushes the cardboard children singlehandedly, literally. By the time Homer got back to the couch, daughter Lisa is placing another painting on the wall, with wife Marge giving some colorful language of her own.
