‘My Scientology Movie’ Lead Calls Out Tom Cruise for Possible Sequel

The Church of Scientology once again brought something good to a person, as "My Scientology Movie" just won the Best Film award at the 2017 VO5 NME Awards. Would Scientology's biggest name, Tom Cruise, be interested in a sequel about exposing his religion? Apparently, Louis Theroux wants to find out.

Besting 2016 blockbusters like "Deadpool" "Suicide Squad" and "Captain America: Civil War", Theroux received the award for "My Scientology Movie" as presented by Adam Buxton. NME's website reported that after the generic thank you's, Theroux calls out Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise, who did not appear on the film. He then requested the "Mission Impossible" actor to contact his agent so they could work on the sequel, promptly titled "My Scientology Sequel."

"My Scientology Movie" is a documentary that aims to reveal the truth about the supposed religion, even having former Scientologists do some acting for the camera. It features Louis as he teams up with a former official of the church to investigate on the reported behavior of the religion's leader while delving deeper into Scientology's Gold Base facility.

While working on the documentary "My Scientology Movie", Theroux and the team experienced being monitored by "guys in black" of the church. Former members were also called "suppressive", the term the religion uses to describe a non-member.

"My Scientology Movie" is not the first move done against the supposed religion. Several former members of the church released their own statements and re-enactments to deliver their point. Unfortunately for the movie, it seemed to be lacking substance. As National Post reviewed "My Scientology Movie", the movie could not back up its claims nor provide a proper documentary about it.

Premiered at 2015's London Film Festival, "My Scientology Movie" made some rounds in the U.K. on October 2016 through BC films. North America will be able to get a glimpse of the movie by March 2017.
