It must be a little frustrating for fans who have been patiently waiting for the "Yuri on Ice" release date. Even with a massively hit first season, producer MAPPA has been silent on the issue, which only seemed to encourage numerous speculations as far as the "Yuri on Ice" Season 2 release date is concerned.

But fans should not worry too much. A "Yuri on Ice" Season 2 is bound to happen. In fact, the anime's popularity guarantees that a second season will be made.

For those who might wonder just how popular the anime series is, its first season, which aired in 2016, surprised everyone as it raked in various awards. It rose to popularity at such lightning speed that it even managed to topple older, more established anime series when its first season aired last year.

For instance, a recently concluded Tokyo Anime Award Festival online poll named "Yuri on Ice" as the top anime series for 2016. Considered to be the anime version of the Academy Awards, the official Tokyo Anime Award Festival website ran a poll which encouraged fans to vote their favorite anime series from among a list of around 500 shows.

Surprisingly, "Yuri on Ice" Season 1 ranked first after it managed to garner 41,439 votes from a total of 257,000, ComicBook reported. Coming in second is the anime Joker Game which lost to "YOI" by over 3,000 votes.

Going back to "Yuri On Ice' Season 2 release date speculations, there are those who believe that it may arrive later this year. For instance, KoreaPortal suggests that it may arrive by October 2017. Although the publication warns that it is just an estimate, it also assures fans that a second season is definitely on the way, citing creator Mitsurō Kubo's enthusiasm in getting the second season done by this year.
