‘The Vampire Diaries’ Season 8 Finale Spoilers: Elena Surprises Damon
Elena finally wakes up in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 Finale to reunite with her loved ones. Of course, this includes Damon and she surprises him most of all with her return.
Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) reunites in the final episode and last season of The CW vampire drama. A sneak peek at "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 Finale promises a very emotional reunion for the lovebirds.
The trailer opens with Damon surprised to see Elena's coffin empty. He then hears her call his name from behind. Damon looks back to see Elena wide awake as she stares at him in surprise. Stefan (Paul Wesley) is also in the scene. Elena appears as though she have some questions for Damon since she looks confused.
The previous trailer for "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 Finale hinted that she might have forgotten what happened to her or at Mystic Falls. In the preview, Stefan (Paul Wesley) took her to Mystic Falls High School. Elena sounded puzzled when she asked Stefan what she is doing at her school.
Likewise, Somerhalder hinted at Elena's fate in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 Finale in a previous interview with Variety. He said he wants Elena to wake up and not remember anything that happened at Mystic Falls. He also wants Damon and Stefan gone.
Regardless, fans want Damon and Elena to reunite and have their happy ever after. Showrunner Julie Plec, on the other hand, did not confirm a happy conclusion. Instead, she assured that the episode has a satisfying end. Plec said the love stories will have their best possible conclusion, whether it be a happy ending, sad parting or tragic ending. "Whatever it was that each relationship in my mind needed in order to properly resolve itself," Plec told Nerdist.
Perhaps series creator Julie Plec took Somerhalder's suggestion and made Elena forget the bad things that happened in Mystic Falls. Regardless, it is great to see Nina Dobrev return in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 Finale along with co-stars David Anders (John Gilbert) and Steven McQueen (Jeremy Gilbert).
