Nvidia has unveiled its latest consumer graphics card, GeForce GTX 1080 Ti, which is reported to be 35 percent faster than its predecessor.

Nvidia unveiled its new GeForce GTX 1080 Ti chipset in the Editors Day event in San Francisco. According to the trade show, the company claimed that the new chipset will compete against its predecessors in terms of speed and memory configuration.

According to ArsTechnica, the GTX 1080 Ti will use a GP102 GPU, with 3,584 stream processors and 224 texture units split across six graphics processing clusters and 28 SMs. However, it will be relatively 35 percent than the GTX 1080 and even edging the Titan X.

In addition, the new chipset features an 11GB frame buffer, a new dualFET power architecture and 11GB of GDDR5X video memory running at 11Gbps bandwidth rate, which translates to a 352-bit memory interface and 88 ROPs. In terms of memory configuration, the GTX 1080 Ti's memory bandwidth increases 2.4 times from 500GB/s to 1200GB/s.

Furthermore, the 1080 Ti's memory runs at 11GHz against Titan X's 10GHz, Polygon reported. The GPU boost clock covers 1.6GHz, with a peak of 2GHz when overclocked. TDP is rated at 250W with power coming in via 6-pin and 8-pin PCIe connectors.

More inputs on the capabilities of the new GTX 1080 Ti chip was previously given by Jonah Alben, senior VP of engineering at Nvidia. Based on his reports, the new card features advanced equalization techniques, channel optimization, minimal electrical noise optimizations, jitter reductions.

According to Fudzilla, the company also configured its cooling system by improving the efficient cooling system found in previous GTX cards using a new high-airflow thermal solution. Alben said, "At a certain amount of fan noise, you want to be able to bring the cooler down to a desired temperature range."

He added: "At 35db of noise, the new cooler can run 5C cooler and can operate around 2.5db quieter at the same temperature levels."

In terms of its pricing and availability, the new GeForce GTX 1080 Ti graphics cards, including the Nvidia Founders Edition, will be shipped worldwide across 238 countries and territories by Nvidia partners including Asus EVGA, Gainward, Galaxy, Gigabyte, iGame, Innovision 3D, MSI, Palit, PNY and Zotac, starting March 10. The new chip is pegged at a price of $699, the same with the Nvidia Founders Edition.
