There is something to be said about the novelty of showrunners behind GOT. They kept the "Game Of Thrones" Season 7 premiere date sealed inside a block of ice and made millions of people wait hours to find out the surprise!

The sheer loyalty and obsession of GOT fans were tested when the creators placed a huge chunk of ice during a Facebook Life video and invited millions to watch it melt. What seemed like a really good suspense stunt, at first, did not take long to transform into utter confusion.

15 minutes of holding one's breath and none of the people were even close to figuring out what was inside the ice, CNN reports. This was because the ratio of the block of ice to the amount of fire that was being applied to it was upside down. Despite the fact that nearly 100,000 people tuned into watching the Live feed and did as they were told, that is, to write the word "fire" in the comments below, the ice failed to melt any quicker.

Next, there were some technical difficulties that irritated the people who were excited to find out what was ice was concealing. The clip malfunctioned a number of times, leaving millions confused, Slate reports. "Game Of Thrones" Season 7 stars Isaac Hempstead Wright (who plays Bran Stark) and Lena Headey (who plays Cersei Lannister) appeared in front of the camera to calm the nerves of the fans and urged them to keep on commenting the word "fire."

That did the trick for about a few minutes until the clip started to glitch again. The clip completely stopped working a couple of times sending rays of panic across fans who had gathered to find out some unknown spoiler about "Game Of Thrones" Season 7.

After cutting to pitch black for the second time, the Live feed was restored again and the fans (half of whom must have died of anticipation at that point) finally got to find out that "Game Of Thrones" Season 7 premiere date was set much earlier than they had initially thought. The upcoming season of the show was previously predicted to return sometime in April. Instead, it is coming back on July 16, 2017!

Was it worth it to make millions watch a melting block of ice just to reveal the big day? Fans seemed to be divided in their opinions. While some did not mind, other thought that the hype was too much for a simple "Game Of Thrones" Season 7 premiere date reveal.
