"Orange Is the New Black" Season 5 will take place within 3 days after the riot cliffhanger in Season 4. Netflix has since renewed the critically-acclaimed series for Season 6 and 7.

In a 15-second teaser, "Orange Is the New Black" Season 5 teased glimpses of Daya, Maria, Red, Morello, Taystee, Flaca, Nicky Alex, Piper and Nicky. In Season 4, fan favorite character Poussey (Samira Wiley) was accidentally suffocated by Bayley and eventually died during a protest.

The officials tried to cover the incident prompting the inmates to band together and stage a riot. Eventually, officer Humphrey pulled out an unauthorized gun against the inmates which was knocked out of his hands and was picked up by Daya. The season ended in Daya pointing Humphrey's gun into his own head.

In an interview with E! Online, "Orange Is the New Black" star Danielle Brook confirmed that Season 5 will pick up from the cliffhanger in Season 4. She hinted that there will be very intense scenes to come that will have the viewers crying.

"Season five is done over the course of three days. You will watch 13 episodes, and find out what happens in the course of three days. So, it will be very detailed, very intense, and you better get ready. Get your popcorn, your tissues, everything," she said.

It has been confirmed that Taylor Schilling (Piper), Danielle Brooks (Taystee), Kate Mulgrew (Galina "Red"), Uzo Aruba (Suzanne "Crazy Eyes"),  Michael Harney (Sam) and Laura Prepon will return in "Orange Is the New Black" Season 5. There are also reports that Lori Petty and Michelle Hurst will return as Lolly, and Miss Claudia respectively, Capital FM reported.

Meanwhile, actress Taryn Manning denied that she is leaving the show. In fact, the actress has been reportedly seen filming the fifth season as early as July of 2016. "Orange Is the New Black" Season 5 is set to premiere sometime in June 2017.
